Movies Anywhere My Lists

I was Lead of Product Design and User Research for our new flagship feature ‘My Lists’ on Movies Anywhere. Our app consolidates all your digital movie purchases into a single collection, and then helps you organize them with My Lists. I designed the My Lists feature into two main components: First, it auto-generates a personalized set of lists that reflect your top interests and watch behavior. Then it provides tools to customize those lists, browse additional list suggestions, or create your own. The feature also recognizes Franchise Sets (such as “Jurassic Park”) and encourages completion of a full set.

Additionally, I managed a User Researcher as my direct report as we got to the heart of why collectors love their movies. I planned out rounds of testing and hosted sessions to prioritize open questions from Design, Product, Content, and Data Science. I supervised our User Researcher in drafting methodologies, conducting tests, and analyzing findings into reports we communicated across the company. Our research plan included interviews with collectors on Movies Anywhere and competitor services, iterative rounds of usability testing, and the creation of custom prototypes with users’ actual movies to capture real impressions of their personalized automatic list sets. These insights allowed our core team iterate with agility.

I have presented ‘My Lists’ in numerous LOE sessions with developers, cross-functional kickoffs, and executive reviews. I attribute the stakeholders’ enthusiastic buy in to our well-validated business case and design… and the excitement of demoing the feature themselves with their own personal collections!

‘My Lists’ launched in August 2021 and will be available on Web, iOS, Android, and 6 different TV platforms.
